Jenn Stuczynski Wins California Invitational Relays!
Sunday, May 11, 2008 by Melissa Charles | 0 Comments

Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Jenn Stuczynski took first place at the California Invitational Relays yesterday!!

Here's a quick recap from yesterday's meet:

  • Jenn set a meet record in the pole vault at 15 feet, 5 inches on her first vault of the day.
  • According to news reports, Jenn – the only American woman ever to clear 16 feet - easily cleared 16 feet in warm-ups.
  • She easily beat Stacy Dragila’s meet record of 15 feet, 1 inch while the former pole vault Olympic gold medalist watched.
  • Jenn barely failed in three straight tries at 16-0 3/4, which would have bested her own U.S. record.

Here’s a quote from the International Herald Tribune:

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/05/11/sports/RUN-California-Relays.php

"All three times, I was over (the bar)," Stuczynski said after her outdoor season debut. "I just couldn't get the standards right. I knew I didn't have a lot of jumps in me, so we came in high to try to get record jumps. I could feel the heat."

The adidas Track Classic will begin at 12:30 p.m. on May 18 at The Home Depot Center, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, and will be broadcast live on ESPN from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. PT (4 p.m.-6 p.m. ET).

Here's the press release:

CARSON, Calif. (April 2, 2008) – A trio of reigning World Champions – Tyson Gay, Allyson Felix and Jeremy Wariner – are set to compete at the adidas Track Classic on May 18, organizers announced today. Among them, they brought home eight gold medals from the 2007 World Championships, and all three are destined for the Olympic spotlight later this summer.

The adidas Track Classic will begin at 12:30 p.m. on May 18 at The Home Depot Center, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, and will be broadcast live on ESPN from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. PDT (4 p.m.-6 p.m. EDT).

Gay, who won gold at 100 meters, 200 meters and the 4x100-meter relay in Osaka, was named 2007 male IAAF Athlete of the Year in track and field by the sport’s international governing body. Among his many other honors last year, Gay was ranked #1 in the world at 100 and 200 meters by Track & Field News magazine, which also named him Man of the Year.

Felix also won three gold medals at the World Championships, at 200 meters and both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. In defending her 200-meter title, the Los Angeles native ran 21.81 seconds, the fastest time in the world by any woman in the last eight years. A 2004 Olympic silver medalist, the 22-year-old finished the year ranked not only #1 in the world at 200 meters, but #3 at 400 meters and #6 at 100 meters. For their efforts, Felix and Gay were named the 2007 Jesse Owens Award winners as the top track-and-field athletes in the United States.

Wariner, the 2004 Olympic gold medalist at 400 meters and the 4x400-meter relay, was also ranked #1 in the world for 2007 after defending his World Champion titles. Dominant at the distance for the past three years, Wariner notched six of the top 10 times in the world last year; his winning time of 43.45 seconds in Osaka topped the 2007 list. The events at which the three athletes are competing will be announced soon.

Monday, March 17, 2008 by Melissa Charles | 0 Comments

Good afternoon!

Below are some behind-the-scenes pictures from Jenn's Nutrilite video shoot! The video shoot was in Miami, and we did a day shoot and a night shoot. Talk about a superstar - We waited to start the night shoot until it was pitch black outside, and then had her pole vault in the dark, blinded by spotlights... after she had already pole vaulted all morning! She rocks!

Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Jenn Stuczynski is the American Record Holder for the Women's Pole Vault.

Enjoy! :-)

Jenn in Sports Illustrated!!!
Wednesday, March 12, 2008 by Melissa Charles | 3 Comments

Check out the March 3, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated!!!

On page 56 there's an awesome picture of Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Jenn Stuczynski in her training site in Churchville, N.Y. (It's part of the article "The Road to Beijing: Olympic Training Towns."

Quote from the article:
"In 1996 pole vaulting coach Rick Suhr built an unusual 4,000-square-foot training site, putting two Quonsot huts end-to-end to create space for a 120-foot-long synthetic-surfaced runway leading to a vaulting pit. There is no insulation against winter temperatures, which drop into single digits."

CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE!

The picture from the article is available on www.sipictures.com

From the home page, click on "Begin Your Search for Sports Illustrated Photos." Then Search for Jenn Stuczynski - It's the image of her running in the tunnel.

Results from the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships - Jenn & Liu

Results from the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships

JENN:

At the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain on March 8, 2008, Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Jenn Stuczynski brought home the silver medal in the women's pole vault with her clearance of 4.75 meters/15 feet 7 inches. Reigning Olympic and World champion Yelena Isinbayeva won the competition at the same height, but with zero misses, while Stuczynski had a miss at that height.

Congrats!!!! 4.75 meters indoors is a personal best for Jenn!!!

LIU:

China's star hurdler and Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Liu Xiang finished first to snatch the title in men's 60-meter hurdles. Liu finished in 7.46 seconds winning the gold medal, his first of such event, though he is the world champion and world record holder in the outdoor 110-meter hurdles.

Liu’s biggest competition,
Dayron Robles, was surprisingly eliminated in the heats. Dayron who last month ran the second fastest time ever of 7.33 seconds, was expected to give Liu a run for his money but stayed in his blocks and stood up at the start of his heat as the gun went, expecting a false start to be called. However, the judge did not call back the race. Dayron made a vain effort to try to get back into his running but finished last before leaving the track in tears.
