Lots of good news for Nutrilite-sponsored athlete Sanya Richards this week!

Sanya has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the women's 400-meter sprint Sunday at the 2007 ISTAF Meeting in Berlin, Germany to earn her second consecutive share of the Golden League Jackpot. This concluded her unbeaten streak in the six-meet, 2007 Golden League Series.

Sanya earned half of the million-dollar jackpot by going undefeated in the women's 400-meter sprint in Golden League competition, and she got better as the series went on. Sunday, she ran a world-leading time of 49.27 seconds. Sanya's other Golden League wins came in Oslo June 15, Paris July 6, Rome July 13, Zurich September 7 and Brussels last Friday.

Melissa, this is great information... I posted a request over on the IBOAI Blog that some of the promo on and endorsements by "our" Nutrilite athletes be included in the forthcoming Health Pathway/Nutrilite sales kit coming in January/February. Can you share that thought with Beth Dornan, as she had asked for feedback on that kit awhile back. Additionally, I noted the new Nutrilite newsletter posted about over at IBOFightBack's site (scroll down for the newsletter): http://www.thetruthaboutamway.com/ Which is also posted over at the Nutrilite site. While there I was also looking at the outstanding NHI Science Advisory Board members. It's actually a bit difficult to find on their site but here's the link: http://www.nutrilite.com/en-us/Science/NHI/BestOfPeople/nhi-sab.aspx And here is my question/request: in the Nutrilite newsletter (page 2), they mention "metabolomics" as a new evaluation criteria to be used in the Japanese study of how Nutrilite affects cellular metabolism. Could you on this blog -- if that's part of your mandate -- provide a brief explanation of what metabolomics is and why that would be important for IBOs to know about when educating consumers and selling Double X and other Health Pathway products? If that's not the purpose of your Blog, perhaps you could request Dr. Chet to write it up in one of his newsletters over at Better Life Unlimited: http://www.betterlifeunlimited.com/about_us/ By the way, I see they've rebuild their site... do you still have an active working relationship with them? With appreciation,

Hi rdknyvy!

I checked with our R&D department and we've never used metabolomics to test Double X. We only started using it for the Triple X (which is available overseas)clinical study currently in progress. So, there's not really anything for IBOs to know about metabolomics in relation to Double X. There aren't any plans along these lines for Double X at this time.

Hi Melissa, I don't understand your reply. The new Nutrilite newsletter published in North America by Nutrilite references a new clinical study starting up (in Japan) that includes looking at the functionality of a Nutrilite product (Triple X) through the lense of metabolomics. All ten members of the Nutrilite Science Advisory Board agree and are thrilled with the addition of this metric to the clinical testing panel, according to the newsletter. As I understand it, Triple X is the Japanese market version of Double X. So the question is still relevant, I think, to supplements in general, and Double X in particular.

Perhaps this is a question best put to the people at Nutrilite... could you follow up with them? I realize my first question posting above wandered around a bit and wasn't terribly focused... sorry about that.

With appreciation,

PS Melissa, this info is extremely important to your other Double X markets.

Hi Melissa,

Gotta ask this one just for the sake of the official response. One of our former TEAM friends just made this claim on their forums -

what a hoot - Q/A loosing out buisiness so now it's trying to recover it elsewhere.... Did you all see its annoucement that it was going to sell Nutrilight vitamin packets thru Walmart now?

It's unfortunate these guys (or at least this guy/gal) apparently so knew little about the product range they can't even spell it correctly :-(

So Melissa ... which Nutrilite products are going to be for sale at WalMart?

# rdknyvr said on October 3, 2007 7:12 PM:

Melissa, I wonder if this is something that Allison Haig might be interested in commenting on as it is the type of info that she would consider including in a QU course on Double X at some point. Could you point her to the question to see if she will comment?

With appreciation,

Melissa, why is Sanya not featured over on the Nutrilite site? I see Asafa and Liu prominently featured on their home page, but was unable to find anything on either Sanya or Jen. Do you guys in Ada talk and coordinate with Buena Park??? No excuses now... you're the Brand Manager, and Nutrilite is 100% owned by Alticor. :)

PS. still waiting for a reply to my last post...

Sanya, who is a globally-sponsored Nutrilite athlete, will be up on the Nutrilite.com site soon. Our Global Nutrilite Marketing department is currently evaluating whether or not they're going to completely overhaul the site, or just do an update. Either way, I expect you'll see her up there within the next few weeks. Jenn will not be on the Nutrilite.com site, as she is only sponsored by the Nutrilite brand in North American, and Nutrilite.com is a global website. However, she will be featured on Quixtar.com and at TeamNutriliteUSA.com.

Ha... that's one of the funniest questions I've seen on here. There are no Nutrilite products available at Walmart and never will be.
# Melissa Charles said on October 12, 2007 1:58 PM:
You're right in the sense that Triple X is the product available in Japan, which is most similar to Double X. However, the formulas aren't exactly the same. There are a number of different formulas across the world, based on the different laws and regulations depending on what country you're in.

Hi Melissa, thanks for the reply and updates. Regarding the study and metabolomics, perhaps the question was a bit premature. There is a good but somewhat technical article on metabolomics at Wikipedia, and a prof at my alma mater (U. of Alberta) has been instrumental in opening up this very new field of research. The fact that Nutrilite is including it as an aspect of the clinical study in Japan is an indicator of just how totally cutting edge Nutrilite is, and is staying!!!

But anything more you or your colleagues from Buena Park can add will be appreciated, at least by a few of us!!! :)

OH YES, regarding IBOFB's question, can you be even more definitive... currently no Nutrilite in the retail (non-IBO) market place, and no plans to do so in the future? He was referencing a scare-mongering rumour from someone who had posted this idea elsewhere.

Great weekend to you!!! :)

# Melissa Charles said on October 12, 2007 8:30 PM:
Sure thing - The only way you can obtain Nutrilite products is online at quixtar.com and teamnutriliteusa.com, or through your Quixtar Independent Business Owner. Any rumors to the contrary are just that... rumors.
